Rafal Nowak, M.D. - graduated from the Poznan University of Medical Sciences, Poznan, Poland. Traveling has always been his passion. He has visited most of the countries of South and South-East Asia. In 2005, as a resident in ophthalmology, Dr. Nowak came to Nepal in order to gain experience in tropical ophthalmology. For several months he worked as a volunteer in various places of the country - including LECC (Kathmandu), LECC (Damak), the Fateh-Bal Eye Hospital (Nepalgunj; www.fbeh.org), the Kedia Eye Hospital (Birganj; www.kediaeye.org). He participated in numerous eye camps held in remote mountainous regions. To extend  his skills he also took part in a microsurgical course at the Bombay City Eye Institute and Research Centre, Bombay, India(www.eyecareforall.com).
Dr. Nowak has worked in Nepal with excellent specialists from whom he received training. He has acquired confidence in cataract surgery, sometimes working on his own in "combat" conditions. In OPD work he has experienced a lot of  cases that are extremely rare in developed countries. Dr. Nowak used to say, that for him Nepal was a place where he achieved the greatest satisfaction from his work. That is why he stays in touch with his Nepalese friends and plans to keep on returning to this country frequently.

In 2009 Dr. Nowak has set up the Third Eye Project:
